What is SEVIS?

SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) is an internet-based system maintained by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that maintains information on international students and exchange visitors in the United States.

Who is required to pay the I-901 SEVIS fee?

Most F, M, and J visa applicants must pay the SEVIS fee before their visa interview. There are exceptions for certain J-1 exchange visitors sponsored by the U.S. government, as well as some Canadian citizens.

How do I pay the I-901 SEVIS fee?

You can pay the I-901 SEVIS fee online at FMJfee.com using a credit or debit card, or by mailing a check or money order. After payment, you will receive a receipt — keep this and bring it to your visa interview.
