The International Student Resource Center (“ISRC,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a project of the Talent Mobility Fund (TMF), a program of Renaissance Philanthropy, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are committed to protecting your privacy and the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy describes the personal information we collect, the steps we take to safeguard that information, and how we use and disclose it to operate the ISRC website and related services (collectively, the “Site”). For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “personal information” means any information that relates to you as an individual and could reasonably be used to identify you, such as your name, email address, or the content of your inquiry. This Privacy Policy applies to our collection and use of personal information through this Site and any related online tools or communications where this Policy is referenced or linked.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the personal information necessary to operate the Site and communicate with users:

  • Newsletter sign-ups: Email address provided voluntarily when subscribing to our newsletter.

  • Help Desk inquiries: Name, email address, and the content of your question or inquiry. In some cases, users may voluntarily include additional details in their messages such as date of birth, nationality, immigration status, education, or employment information. ISRC does not request or require such information, and we use it only as reasonably necessary to understand and respond to the inquiry.

  • Technical data: When you visit our website, our hosting platform and analytics tools automatically collect limited information such as your IP address, browser type, device, and pages visited. This information is used in aggregate form for security and website analytics.

ISRC does not intentionally collect demographic, case-specific, or government-record data from external sources, and we do not use information submitted by users for profiling, eligibility assessments, or legal casework.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information solely to support ISRC’s mission and to operate the Site responsibly. Specifically, we use information to:

  • Respond to inquiries and provide requested information;

  • Send newsletters or program updates to users who voluntarily subscribe;

  • Maintain and improve the functionality, security, and accessibility of the Site; and

  • Generate aggregate, de-identified data for internal reporting and evaluation.

We do not sell or share personal information for marketing or advertising purposes, and we do not use automated systems to profile individuals or predict their interests or behavior. We may, however, use contact information that users voluntarily provide (for example, newsletter subscriptions or past inquiries) to send relevant updates, resources, or opportunities related to ISRC’s programs. You can opt out of these communications at any time by following the unsubscribe link or contacting us directly.

3. Disclosing Your Personal Information

ISRC understands that protecting user privacy is critical. We do not disclose personally identifiable information to any outside party except as described below and only for legitimate, mission-related purposes.

  • Affiliated organizations: We may share limited, anonymized or aggregated information with Renaissance Philanthropy and the Talent Mobility Fund for administrative, technical, or compliance purposes—for example, to evaluate program reach or maintain secure website operations.

  • Service providers: We may engage trusted third-party vendors (such as website hosting or email management platforms) that process data on our behalf under written confidentiality agreements and only for the services they provide to us.

  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of ISRC, TMF, or Renaissance Philanthropy.

  • User consent: We will never disclose personally identifiable information to any other organization, governmental entity, or individual without your explicit consent.

Any data shared for reporting, analytics, or evaluation is de-identified or aggregated so that individuals cannot be identified. ISRC, TMF, and Renaissance Philanthropy do not sell, rent, or exchange personal information.

4. Protecting Your Personal Information 

We maintain appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and security of personal information collected through the Site. These include secure data storage, limited access to authorized personnel, and use of reputable third-party vendors. However, no website or email system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted through the Internet. We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law or organizational policy.Because ISRC is operated from the United States, information collected through the Site may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country of residence.

5. Your Choices and Rights

You have control over your information:

  • Unsubscribe or opt out: You may unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by following the link in the email or contacting us directly.

  • Request access or deletion: You may request to review or delete your personal information by emailing help@internationalstudent.org 

6. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect or maintain information directly from persons under 13 years of age (“children”). If you are under 13 years of age, then please do not use or access the Services at any time or in any manner. If we learn that information has been collected through the Services from children and without verifiable parental consent, then we will take the appropriate steps to delete this information. If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us using the contact information below to request that we delete the information from our systems.

7. Third-Party Links and Tools

The Site may include links to third-party websites or tools such as ISRC’s social media pages, partner resources, or web resources maintained by the U.S. government. We do not control the privacy practices of those third parties, and they are not covered by this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review the privacy notices of any external websites or services you use to learn about their data practices.

8. Cookies, Analytics, and Third-Party Tools

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to improve functionality, analyze website traffic, and support our communications. Cookies are small text files placed on your device that help websites operate effectively and collect certain information automatically.

Website Analytics

The Site may use analytics tools to help us understand general patterns of website use, such as how visitors find and navigate our pages, which devices they use, and how long they stay. Google Analytics collects information including your IP address, browser type, device, operating system, referring website, and general location. We use this information only in aggregate form to maintain and improve the Site and to better understand our audience. ISRC does not use analytics tools for advertising, remarketing, or user profiling.

Email Communications

We use Mailchimp to manage our email newsletter subscriptions and communications. When you sign up for our newsletter, your name and email address are stored securely by Mailchimp in accordance with its own Privacy Policy. We use this information only to send you updates or newsletters and to understand general engagement (for example, how many users open an email).

Managing Cookies

You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being placed. Please note that disabling cookies may affect some functionality of the Site.

9. International Users

The Site is operated from the United States but is accessible globally. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., you understand that your personal information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country of residence.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect operational, legal, or technical changes. When significant updates occur, we will post a prominent notice on this page and update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect indicates your acceptance of the revised policy. Disputes arising under this Policy will be handled under the version in effect at the time the dispute arose.
