Welcome to the International Student Resource Center (“ISRC,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). ISRC is a project of the Talent Mobility Fund (TMF), a program of Renaissance Philanthropy, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, online materials, and any related services (collectively, the “Site”). By accessing or using this Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Purpose of the ISRC

The ISRC provides international students and scholars with general information and educational resources about U.S. immigration processes and related topics. The ISRC also operates a Help Desk, where users may submit questions and receive general information by email.

The ISRC does not provide legal advice or representation. The information provided through this Site, including through the Help Desk, is for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as legal advice. No attorney-client relationship is created by using this Site, submitting questions, or receiving responses from ISRC staff or contract attorneys.

2. Eligibility and Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Site, you confirm that you:

  • Are at least 18 years old, or are using the Site with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, and

  • Have read, understood, and agree to comply with these Terms.

If you are a parent or guardian and you allow a minor to use this Site, you agree to be responsible for that minor’s use of the Site and compliance with these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use the Site.

3. Informational Use Only / No Legal Advice

All materials, resources, and responses provided by ISRC are intended for general educational purposes.

They are not intended to:

  • Substitute for individualized legal advice,

  • Address your specific circumstances, or

  • Create an attorney-client or confidential relationship.

If you need legal advice about your specific situation, you should contact a licensed U.S. immigration attorney or another qualified legal professional.

4. Use of the Site

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes. You may not:

  • Use the Site in any way that could damage or impair its functionality,

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or related systems,

  • Use the Site to transmit spam, malware, or harmful content, or

  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with ISRC or any third party.

We may restrict or terminate access to the Site for users who violate these Terms.

5. Intellectual Property and Third-Party Content 

All original content on this Site, including text, graphics, logos, icons, design, and other materials created by the ISRC, TMF, or Renaissance Philanthropy, is protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws.

You may view, download, or print ISRC materials for your personal, non-commercial use, provided that you:

  • Do not modify the content;

  • Retain all copyright, attribution, and source notices; and

  • Do not reproduce, distribute, or republish any content without prior written permission from ISRC or the original rights holder.

Third-Party Content

The Site may reference or include materials, links, or excerpts from third-party sources—such as U.S. government agencies, nonprofit organizations, or other entities. ISRC does not claim ownership of any third-party content and provides such materials solely for informational and educational purposes.

Trademarks, logos, or service marks appearing on the Site that are not owned by ISRC, TMF, or Renaissance Philanthropy are the property of their respective owners. Inclusion of third-party materials or links does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation with ISRC, TMF, or Renaissance Philanthropy.

6. External Links and Third-Party Sites

From time to time, the Site may include links to external websites or resources operated by other organizations. These links are provided for convenience and reference only.

The ISRC, TMF, and Renaissance Philanthropy do not control and are not responsible for the content, availability, accuracy, or privacy practices of any external sites.

The inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation.

When you follow a link to another website, you do so at your own risk and should review that site’s terms and privacy policy.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the ISRC, TMF, Renaissance Philanthropy, and their respective employees, officers, directors, contractors, and volunteers shall not be liable for any losses, damages, or claims of any kind arising out of or in connection with your use of, or reliance on, the Site, the Help Desk, or any information or materials made available through them.

This includes, without limitation, any loss or damage caused by:

  • Errors, omissions, interruptions, or inaccuracies in content;

  • Technical failures, system delays, or data loss; or

  • Any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

All materials on the Site are provided “as is.” If you are dissatisfied with the Site or any materials provided, your choice is to discontinue using the Site.

Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.

8. No Warranty

The Site and its services are provided on an as-available basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

ISRC, TMF, and Renaissance Philanthropy make no representations or guarantees regarding:

  • The accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information provided;

  • The uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Site or Help Desk; or

  • The suitability of the Site for any particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, are disclaimed.

9. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information. By using the Site, you consent to the practices described in that policy.

When you contact the ISRC Help Desk or use other features of the Site, we may collect personal information such as your name, email address, and the content of your inquiry. This information is used solely for the purpose of responding to your questions, improving our services, and maintaining the operation and security of the Site.

Personal data collected through this Site is processed and stored in the United States in accordance with applicable U.S. privacy laws and Renaissance Philanthropy’s data protection policies. ISRC does not sell, rent, or otherwise share user information with third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.

If you are under 13 years old, please do not submit personal information through the Site. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided personal information should contact us immediately so we can remove it from our records.

10. Changes to These Terms

ISRC may update or revise these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page and revise the Last updated” date at the top. In some cases, we may also provide additional notice, for example, by highlighting the change on the Site’s home page or in the Site footer. Changes become effective on the date they are posted unless otherwise indicated. By continuing to use the Site after changes are posted, you agree to the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.

By using this Site, you agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in New York, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If you access the Site from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with any applicable local laws. We make no guarantee that the content complies with the laws or practices of other countries.
