What does “Admit Until Date” (AUD) mean?
Under the “fixed admission” or “date certain” system, the AUD noted on your I-94 is the exact date on which your authorized stay in the U.S. ends. If you need more time, action must be taken BEFORE your AUD arrives.
Your AUD:
Will be issued upon entry to the U.S. or on an approval notice from USCIS when you apply for an extension or change of status once the new D/S rule is in effect. If you don’t travel and haven’t yet applied for anything from USCIS, you won’t be formally issued an AUD, but will need to determine the equivalent for yourself.
Will be tied to your I-20 or DS-2019 end date if you are engaged in a course of study or exchange visitor program, or your EAD if you are engaged in OPT or STEM OPT. **Note that your AUD is not related at all to the end date on your visa stamp.**
Will include your 30 day grace period under the new D/S rule. There is not an additional grace period after your AUD. If you are under the transition provisions and still have your D/S I-94, you retain your 60 day grace period.
