What happens if I don’t leave the U.S. within my grace period?
If you don't depart by the end of your grace period — and haven't filed an eligible change of status — you're no longer authorized to remain in the U.S. and are considered out of status, which can create serious future immigration problems.
Why it matters?
The grace period exists only to prepare for departure. Staying beyond it without authorization can cause problems with future visa applications, re-entry to the U.S., and other decisions by immigration authorities.
