What is the I-901 SEVIS fee?
The I-901 SEVIS fee is a mandatory fee paid by most F, M, and J visa applicants to fund the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), which maintains the system used to track international students in the U.S.
How much is the SEVIS fee?
The SEVIS Fee is currently $350 for F-1 and M-1 students, and $220 for J-1 exchange visitors. Fees can change. Always confirm the current amount on the SEVIS fee site before paying.
When to pay the SEVIS fee
Pay after you receive your Form I-20 (F-1/M-1) or Form DS-2019 (J-1), and before your visa interview. It is required under U.S. immigration law.
You can pay your SEVIS fee online at FMJfee.com with a credit/debit card (or by check/money order). Keep your receipt and bring it to your visa interview.
Is it refundable?
In most cases, no. The SEVIS fee is generally non-refundable. However, If you paid in error, you may be eligible for a refund. You also may be able to transfer the fee if you decide to go to a different U.S. school. See more information here.
