What documents will I receive after being admitted to a U.S. school as a J-1 student?
You'll receive an admission letter and a Form DS-2019 (issued through SEVIS by your program sponsor). You need the DS-2019 before you can pay the I-901 SEVIS fee and apply for your J-1 visa.
What you must provide first
Before issuing your DS-2019, your school or sponsor usually needs a valid passport, proof of financial support, and information about any dependents who will accompany you.
